This explains a lot of my character of L'Ni in Starfire Angels: Forgotten Worlds. He has nearly perfect control over his emotions. The interesting thing is that his pride has been replaced by humility by the end of the series, when you really look closely, which is why Nya and the other characters respect him and follow him, besides that he is intelligent and capable of inflicting torture but only inflicts injury on others when necessary. He's actually in meekness, prudence, and modesty what I aspire to be, so he's somewhat my ideal self in many ways, except I couldn't hurt anyone (in that way, I'm more like Nya).

His lectures are very engaging but bear a lot of hard truths. Unfortunately, he’s so popular that there are a number of fake AI versions on unauthorized channels misleading people. ps—He talks about consecrating one’s property, which I’ve done, and I had some amazing protection experiences this past summer of wild weather. We were threatened with tornadoes and/or hail several times, and as soon as I’d start praying the rosary and as long as I continued, the hail and tornadoes went around us. Otherwise, the weather would turn right back on us.

the quiet strength of meekness

This is a great definition of what meekness actually is... strength with self-control.

"Blessed are the meek" is not a command to be harmless. It actually means you're capable of great strength.

Modern people equate "meekness" with weakness, timidity, and lack of backbone. This couldn't be further from the truth.

In Starfire Angels: Forgotten Worlds, the characters often refer to L'Ni as having Feri pride, and he does, sort of. He really isn't prideful but meek by this definition. He has nearly perfect control over his emotions and doesn't show things outwardly getting to him, but only nearly perfect. He has his moments, but it takes a lot to get to him. He's also even tempered and modest of speech, never lies or denies the truth; he has most of the virtues that make him a worthy hero. 

He's not brash or a womanizer like many adventure heroes. He's a gentlemen in every sense, and he's been one of my favorite characters. He represents what a real man ought to be in temperament and principles, even recognizing a duty to protect those weaker than him, no matter the cost to himself. Part of that is his natural temperament and part is his training to not think about himself as much as the completion of a mission. He's been a center-point for me as a character in this series. The qualities that made him a good soldier of the enemy make him an even better heroic character fighting for the light. His superiors turned one of their greatest assets into their worst nightmare, and you'll see why in a big way in Book 21.

Fr. Ripperger always gets very cerebral in explaining things. This is a spiritual explanation of communication.

It could help writers better analyze their own perspectives to overall communications as well as each character they write.

Modesty in Speech

Fr. Chad Ripperger has some great lectures, including some that are not focused entirely on religious matters. This is one that we can all apply to our lives.

On Modesty - the forgotten virtue of Forgotten Worlds

Starfire Angels is based on Christian values. This means the whole series--Dark Angel Chronicles, Revelations, and especially Forgotten Worlds. The values of Crystal Keepers must be virtuous, or they could easily destroy the universe. The Starfire entities (aka Guardians) are creatures of virtue, but also judgment. They will destroy civilizations that devolve into vice, especially using their power for destruction.

But they decided to take a different approach with the Inari. They decided to blend with them and enforce this on their bearers, but in Forgotten Worlds, you learn that it has another purpose.

They require self-control on the part of their bearers, Crystal Keepers. This is part of modesty. Crystal Keepers often also are described as wearing a simple gray "flightsuit" (a type of fitted coverall), although they can wear other clothes. They are supported by their world for the services they provide and are not expected to own much. Sound familiar? This is how the saints often lived, what Jesus taught his disciples.

Dress and attitude often go hand-in-hand. Modesty is also a state of mind. Crystal Keepers are expected to be selfless and modest in attitude and dress.

In Book 3 of Forgotten Worlds, VAULT OF THE CELESTIALS, Nik and Vel are tested on virtues. One of those not highlighted is modesty, but when you consider the mirror, seeing within yourself includes modesty. It's part of seeing within yourself. Many of the other tests were based more on prudence but modesty is also there in a small degree. 

What inspired me in this post was this latest Saturday talk from Fr. Chris Alar. I am guilty of immodesty in my youth, but part of my transformation of faith is seeking greater virtue to please the Lord and honor His gifts, just as the fictional Keepers do to be worthy of the power of the Starfire.
